At the end of the war the PT boats were all burned. Many were burned in Samar, Phillipines including the boats of Squadron 10. The boats were stripped of anything that couldnt burn, and the crews were generally allowed to take anything they could carry. Thats how my grandfather got the diary that forms this site.
After they were burned, the hulls of the PT boats were pulled up to the beach, cut up, and burned again. The photo shows the gas-tank (large box in the middle of the burned-hull) which was built into the boat so it couldnt be removed during the stripping process
