This is my grandfather Frank Kassay (G 3/c) at the wheel of PT-171. The photo was taken Oct 8, 1945 in Samar, Phillipines. In a few weeks the mighty PT boat would be burned to the ground, and he would be headed back to Newark NJ to see his wife and two children
